The full title of this work (unless I change it) is "Copper Illuminated Manuscript of the Hill People of Frisland." Frisland is the invented island/continent in the North Atlantic where I set my Cobbleshore short stories and The Fabulous Forays of Aeryn Daring comic ([link]).
The Hill People were actually an oral culture, but had seen books from the library of the floating island of Laputa. These copper books were made specifically to create homes for book moths (natives of Laputa) that were sometimes found in the Hills. The Hill People considered book moths lucky, and so created little manuscripts to carry them around in. Unfortunately, book moths don't survive long away from the libraries they hatch in. |
