So I've decided to do some things to get my writing and art into the hands of people who might like it. First, I'm going to do a monthly giveaway on my blog. Each month, I'll make a blog post announcing the giveaway, and then people will have all month to comment, and at the end of the month, I'll pick a random winner from all the comments. This month's giveaway is up now, and the prize is a nautilus mini-print (hand-printed!), a copy of one of my YA/middle grade fantasy novels in eBook format (the winner's choice of which one), and some other little thing I haven't decided on yet. Might be some art, or some writing, or something from the natural world. Go this this blog post to comment and enter.
The other thing I'm doing is posting a Smashwords coupon for a free short story on my Facebook fan page. The code will be good for the whole month, and each month a different story will be featured. If you check in every month for a year, you could read my whole series of interconnected stories for free! My Facebook page is here.
Also, if you review books on Smashwords, Amazon, Goodreads or elsewhere and you'd like to read one of my stories or novels, let me know and I'll make you a reviewer's coupon for a free download. You can find my books by searching any of those sites for "Niko Silvester" or "Calliope Strange" (one of my pen names).

Not Dead Yet
Just a quick post to say I'm not dead, just super busy, with no time to work on anything I'd want to post here. I think I'm just about caught up on work, and one way or another, the big bookbinding project I'm doing for a local artist should be finished this week.
Then, I'll get back to painting dragons and drawing satyrs and making assorted fun things.
Art of Sale (or, Help!)
I find myself in a bit of a scary financial situation this month, one I thought I was going to be able to squeak through, until I didn't get paid for a fairly sizeable job (I will get paid eventually, but it could be months).
So I've put almost all of my hand-pulled art prints on sale for shipping + whatever you want to pay. That includes relief prints, letterpress, lithographs, intaglio, and letterpress.
Also on sale are the copper skull pendants I make from recycled copper printing plates, and my miniature book jewellery. And few pieces of original art (watercolour, pen and ink, etc), and even artist's books and handbound blank journals.
Apologies
My apologies to anyone who has liked one of my images or given me a llama or what-have-you only to have me seem to ignore you. I've been away from dA for a while, I jut haven't seen any of it. I've cleared out all my messages and updates, so I can start fresh. Now if only I could remember to add some art once in a while...
Die-Cutting
Eep! I guess I haven't been too active here lately. At least not as far as updating this journal. I guess that's what I get for having multiple blogs, and too many hobbies. Anyway.
I finally got myself organized and put together a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo. It's to go towards purchasing a die-cutting machine that I can use to cut my own designs for cards, pop-ups, and other papercut goodies. While I do love cutting paper by hand, I run a small letterpress printing business and I want to combine letterpress and papercutting, and hand-cutting is just too expensive and time-consuming to use for a line of greeting cards (I mean, I'd lik
